□ Top Ten Pubs in England - An on-going survey which has so far covered the five
highest pubs in England.
The 120 mile epic of linking the two highest pubs in England, the Tan Hill Inn and
the Cat and Fiddle Inn, was established in 1952 by The Rucsac Club. This outing
is a more modest pub crawl from the first to the third highest pub which was devised
by Pete Simpson in 2006. At some 45 miles and 11000’ ascent it is achievable within
daylight hours and has the added incentive of the possibility of enjoying “last orders”
to celebrate a grand day out on the hills. A case of uphill and down ale perhaps!
Although it is primarily aimed at the over 50’s age group all successful completions
will be recognised.
